Well I’m back from Myrtle Beach and it was a great time. Although the weather was less than ideal… I had one sunny day at the beach and it rained all the other days… but I still made the most of it. I got there just before restaurants started to close again so I was able to eat out once which was AWESOME. Due to the rain, we spent cloudy days fishing, going to the playground and of course going to yummy food places. When I go on vacation I love finding cute shops and areas to go to because I feel like I’ve actually seen something. If I went and didn’t try out some local places… what even is the point in going.
I do say these are in Myrtle Beach because that is the more known town. To be honest, these are a bit more South such as SurfSide. Really not far, probably the furthest one is 30 minutes south of dead center Myrtle Beach, so totally doable and worth it. You can only spend so much time on the beach, so getting in the car one morning or evening and picking up some treats will be a good change in pace.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite places for you to go next time you’re in Myrtle. These are a lot of food places because most attractions were still closed. BUT you’ll know exactly where to treat yourself.
Murrells Inlet – Marsh Walk

I think this place is just so cute. It has a little bit of everything, restaurants, outdoor bars, kayaking, fishing boats, everything you need for a full day. There are also little stands that sell scarves, jewelry and paintings. Also, tons of live music. Overall a super fun environment to be around whether you’re planning an activity or just going for some food!
Market Commons
I’m going to put this one here as a whole, while some later places I’m going to mention are within Market Commons. This place is adorable. It is a little housing community with a bunch of shops. If you need to go to a store, definitely see if they have a shop in here! There are ponds with a walking trail all around it and the houses are absolutely adorable (I just love the colors so much). Definitely cute to check out.
Garden City Pier
I actually haven’t been in a while but I used to love this place. If you have kids, it’s a kid’s dream. There is an arcade, Games across the street and italian ice. This is also a great spot to fish! At the end of the pier, there is a little bar where you can sit and have a drink, while listening to a live band.
Johnny D’s Breakfast
I love this place. End of story. I have three favorite breakfast places and this is one. I can promise you, you will never have a better waffle or pancake than you will here. They have a wide variety of flavors/toppings you can choose from which makes it the absolute best. My family has gotten different meals and also have said they are very good. My three favorites are the banana split and funfetti waffle and chunky monkey pancakes. Go eat here immediately and you can thank me later.
Pelican’s Snowballs

Be ready to have the time of your life. If you like snow cones you need to go here. They have so many and I mean SO MANY flavors it is honestly overwhelming. I probably annoyed the poor lady working by asking for 800 samples(I promise I didn’t but I felt annoying haha). Of course they have your classic, cherry, mango, blue raspberry but when you see this flavor menu… BORING.
Now I never stray from my cherry or blue raspberry choices because it’s just what I like. To be honest, I never have a desire to try something new, but this day… I did. I got the maui wowie (which is like a fruit punch) and combined it with mojito. AMAZING. I even tried their toothpaste flavor, it was way too random to not try, and really enjoyed it. Be aware of their sizes. Large enough to share, I got a regular and could only eat half. Definitely the best spot to hit up for a post beach snack.
Peace, Love and Mini Donuts

I never knew a tiny little donut could make me so happy. I would best describe this as a donut bar. They have the plain donuts already made, and a display of decorated donut flavor combinations. Then you can ask for however many you want (we got a dozen) and tell the workers which ones. I picked out oreo, caramel macchiato and S’mores. All three were amazing. This place is in Market Commons, so if you go to walk around or shop… definitely stop here for an afternoon treat!
Broadway at the Beach
I love this place so much. I have so many fond memories of going here. There is so much to do from family entertainment to eating and shopping! You can walk all around a giant pond, while eating outside or going into some of the cutest shops. They have the best beach/touristy things (along with many other items) and I honestly love it! They also have so many restaurant options to choose from. For fun things to do, there’s Ripley’s Aquarium and a wax museum and a water park right across the street. You can even take a little boat ride in the pond/lake in the center of it all!
p.s – I hear night life is great as well
p.s.s- Broadway at the beach is more Myrtle Beach, located at 21st and 29th ave.
Barefoot Landing
Just like Broadway at the beach, this is a great one stop shop that has it all. Here you can visit shops, or go look at alligators and tigers. Yes. T. I. G. E. R. S from Netflix’s Tiger King is located here. They also have a ton of restaurants to choose from as well. And if none of that wows you, stop by Alamba Theatre for a show!
p.s- This is like Broadway at the beach’s sister, but located more in north myrtle beach!
I feel like some people like one of these places more than the other and personally I prefer Broadway! If you have been to these places, comment which one you prefer!
Crabby Mike’s
I saved the Best for last. And when I say the best… I mean THE BEST. An all you can eat buffet ranging from fruit, veggies, almost every side imaginable, crab legs, steak, other meats, and desserts. It’s truly a wonderful place. In the past, I’ve eaten so much and stayed so long, that the waiter slowly started bringing less and less plates so we would get the hint to get out. They had other people to sit. Now I feel like if I’m going to mention this place, I should warn you. You may find the wait time to be 2-3 hours when you go and that is NORMAL.
But it would be cruel of me to tell you that my favorite place, the only place you should go to on this list if you could only pick one, is this one and make you wait 2-3 hours. So here are my tips. Eat a small breakfast, and relatively early. Skip lunch. On a day where you are going to go to Crabby Mike’s, lunch is not your friend.
Go early. THIS ONE IS KEY. Go early. Like 3 Pm early. I promise you without lunch and an all you can eat buffet you’ll be so full for the rest of the night. When we have gone at 3-4 pm the wait time is usually about an hour. HAHA hacking the system I would say. Let’s be real. A place that has that long of a wait time, every summer since I can remember (baby me, 4-5 year old me) it is worth your time. Again, you can thank me later.
So that is my must go to/eat at places in Myrtle Beach. They are all so awesome and amazing in their own way. Your next trip I highly recommend going to at least one of these places and checking them out! It’ll be worth your time.
Happy Eating,
Em:)
